I thought this image from the Florida Everglades, would be a perfect fit for the theme this week, near and far. This photograph really captures the vastness of the Everglades. You are surrounded by sawgrass and most of the time you can’t see beyond it. I got this shot when we came up on an group of Great Egrets. I was trying to capture the birds, but this ended up being the best shot of the bunch, no birds. It was the first time I had a sense of distance and perspective.
To me the tour seemed a bit monotonous, except for the times when the tour operator opened up the throttle on the boat, and it felt like we were skimming over the water. I loved the feeling of the wind in my face and the landscape passing by in fast forward motion.

Thank you. Yes we took one of the tour boats. I can’t remember even the name of the park we went to. But yes I took it from the boat.
